Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?

I am a political science major at UF in his second year. My talents lie in politics both international and domestic, as I am from another country and aware of multiple trans-national political movements. Experiences of mine have been in attending classes at National University of Ireland Maynooth, Harvard among others. These different inputs of information have allowed me to receive some of the most up-to-date techniques on political understanding. In terms of politics, this business of mine is in no lack of words, an extension of my political will and wish to change the world. Essentially, it is a potential guide for my life.

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).

Simply put, I am offering my customers a political product to open their eyes to the lies and double-talk of politicians. My product, “Power2U” is a bias-free application that prevents bandwagons as well as other influences by detailing the straight facts of a politician. This will be made available through public records of donations, voting record, attendance and the like. People will no longer have to make decisions based on party-affiliation or just because the masses are doing the same. The Power is truly in your hands with the application.

3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?

I am offering my product to every non-incarcerated citizen of the United States. The psychographic characteristics of my customers is that of people willing to make an informed decision onto who they wish to rule over their lives. Demographically, we are looking towards a younger and more tech-savvy crowd. All my customers have in common that they have at least the most rudimentary understanding of politics and will most likely vote in the general election on November 8th.

4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.

Hopefully, the citizenry of the United States of America wish for an enlightened representation of their desires in power. Otherwise, then this country has bigger problems than not buying my application. Customers will pay money to use the premium version of my product that will give them access to stories reported on candidates free of hype and omission by including every minor detail that occurred at a given event.

5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?

My core competencies are the fact that I am not an active member of either party and oppose both of them quite actively. This insight into seeing candidates as people instead of manifestations of either the donkey or the elephant allows for truth to come through. Another thing I have that no one else possesses is my ability to connect to foreign markets allowing for a growth potential held back only by number of people living in democratic regimes across the world.

These elements fit together as each combines together much like Voltron to create a veritable superpower. People are what drives a government in a democratic state allowing for another method of citizen expression through “Power2U.” If the current turn of events has shown anything is the disgust with the status quo of Washington. Payment will help turn a profit off of this additional “public” voice while turning the heat on the political elite.

Feedback:
-          I heard from everyone that it was a good idea.
-          A lot of positive comments on its timeliness as well as ambition, so I expanded more on my ultimate endgame for this idea.
-          Criticism was given towards the potential of being hijacked by politicians and I countered in this version that public records will allow transparency and truth to flow.
-          There was some concern over the origin of information being biased, hence I added the part of just the barebones of information will be transmitted to the client

-          Pricing was also talked about as I earlier mentioned it was free, hence, I talked briefly about the perks of premium membership.

Hi Michael! I love your idea. Especially during this time where the presidential election is right around the corner, I think a lot of people and students especially could benefit from your business. It is also great that you have such a passion for politics, because this type of venture definitely requires someone like you to organize it! I love the name of it as well. Power2U is clever, catchy, and makes people feel in control, which is very important in consumerism today. Great job and best of luck to you!
